‘The wild, wild west of advertising’: the business of distinguishing personal from paid posts

Oh, we like this label…mysterious! First off, you have to understand that influencer marketing IS affiliate marketing. Lightbulb of the day! But, the fact is, it being mysterious to you puts you at a disadvantage. Like it or not, influencer marketing is here to stay and you must take care when selecting who represents you, and how it’s done. While some might think the grey area of personal and commercial posts is eerie, truthfully if done legally and ethically, the outcome is in the best interest of the consumer and their experience. Blatant marketing is out. We must marry our messages with the value we bring AND transparency….not take the power away from consumers by hoodwinking them. But HOW? It’s pretty freakin’ simple.
